HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA- The Hampden-Sydney Tigers will return home where they will host the 13th-ranked Pioneers of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in the first meeting between the two schools.
The Pioneers come from the highly touted Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) that features six-time national champion UW-Whitewater and third-ranked nationally UW-Oshkosh. Platteville has had much recent success with playoff appearances in 2013 and 2016.
The two programs have similar offensive styles - both Marty Favret of the Tigers and Mike Emendorfer of the Pioneers are in their 18th year at the helm and have both put their mark in their respective record books with impressive aerial attacks.
Hampden-Sydney will be looking to return to the win column on Saturday after falling 20-7 at Christopher Newport last week. The Pioneers, however, are fresh o of a bye week following a 30-28 season opening win over George Fox.
Following this game, the Tigers will open up conference play with back-to- back games against Bridgewater (9/30) and at Guilford (10/7).
