Hampden-Sydney to Face Wesley in First Round

INDIANNAPOLIS, IN-The field of 32 has been announced, and the 2014 ODAC Champion Tigers (7-3, 5-2 ODAC) will face the Wolverines of Wesley College (9-1) at Scott D. Miller Stadium in Dover, Delaware in the first round of the 2014 NCAA Division III Football Championship on Saturday, November 22. Kickoff is set for 12:00 pm.

2014 marks the sixth postseason appearance for the Tigers since 2007 and is the third time the Tigers have been on the road in the first round.

Hampden-Sydney enters the postseason having received a Pool A bid after winning the Old Dominion Athletic Conference championship for the second consecutive and ninth time overall. The Tigers wrapped up the regular season at 7-3 overall and 5-2 in ODAC play.

The Wolverines finished the regular season at 9-1 overall with their lone loss coming 38-33 to Division I FCS Charlotte in the regular season finale.

Last season in the playoffs, Hampden-Sydney advanced to the second round after beating Maryville 42-34 at Everett Stadium in the opening round. The Tigers fell 31-21 in McMinnville, Oregon to end its season at 9-3 overall.

Wesley also appeared in the 2013 postseason, reaching the quarterfinals and ending their season at 10-3 after falling to national runner up Mount Union 62-59. 2014 marks the Wolverines' tenth consecutive post season appearance.

Hampden-Sydney and Wesley have met five times before with Wesley holding a 4-1 advantages in the series. The last time these two met was in 2007 when the Wolverines took a 45-17 victory in the first round of the playoffs.
