Riggenbach Named Academic All-District
HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA-Senior defensive end Will Riggenbach (Midlothian, VA/Clover Hill) has earned ESPN/CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District honors for his stellar work this season on the field and in the classroom.
Through eight games this season, Riggenbach has been a vital part in the #17 Tigers' 8-0 start. The defensive end has tallied 31 tackles, 10.0 tackles-for-loss, 5.5 sacks, one interception for a touchdown, and two pass break ups. Riggenbach is the reigning ODAC Defensive Player of the Year. Last season, he also earned First Team All-ODAC, All-State (VaSID), All-Region (D3football.com) and Honorable Mention All-America (D3football.com) honors while leading the nation in sacks-per-game (1.32) and breaking Hampden-Sydney's single-season sacks record (14.5).
In the classroom, Riggenbach boasts a 3.36 GPA with majors in government and classical studies. He is also a member of Eta Sigma Phi and Pi Sigma Alpha honor societies. Earlier this season, he was also named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Award.
After being named to the First Team for his district, Riggenbach is now in contention to be named an ESPN/CoSIDA Academic All-American.
Riggenbach and the Tigers will return to the gridiron this Saturday, November 6 to travel to Lexington to face the Generals of Washington & Lee University at 1:00 pm.
