Football Second Nationally in Attendence for Second Straight Year
HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA-For the second consecutive year, Lewis C. Everett Stadium has attracted the second highest fan attendance in Division III football. While in 2009 the Tigers saw an average of 4,765 fans every Saturday, Hampden-Sydney nearly doubled its fan base in 2010 with an impressive 7,024 fans in its six home games.
The Tigers also had the third highest attended game of the year, when 12,113 fans came to see the 116th edition of "The Game," which the Tigers won 31-28.
The Old Dominion Athletic Conference led Division III as a whole with 3,341 fans per game. The Conference returns to the top of the ranks after taking 14 of 16 top attendance marks from 1989 to 2004.
