Martin Named ODAC Player of the Week

FOREST, VA-Senior shortstop Chris Martin (Chesterfield, VA/Manchester) was named the ODAC Player of the Week for his performances in the Tigers' five games this past week. He hit over .500 for the week recording 11 hits in 21 at bats in the Tigers' five games.

He started off the week with a 3-for-4 performance with three runs, one RBI, a double and a stolen base against Greensboro. Two days later, he went 2-for-4 with one run, one RBI, one double and two stolen bases. He tallied two more hits on a double and a triple against Roanoke.

In the Tigers' season finale against Randolph-Macon, Martin bounced back from a 1-for-5 performance in the first game by going 3-for-3 in the second game, despite being hit in his first three at bats of the game. In the 12-8 win, Martin scored three runs while batting in three others. On the week, he scored seven runs while batting in six, hit four doubles, one triple, and stole three bases.

Martin and the Tigers will return to action tomorrow, April 20 as they face top seeded Bridgewater College in the first game of the 2011 ODAC Tournament. Game time is set for 11:00 AM, and you can follow all the action here.
